I never wanted to famous. I only wanted to be great." Ray Charles
Looking for a really great athlete ? Watch him at practice if he plays around like an over grown child. If you can see the love of the game in his eyes than you a picked a winner.
You can tell the people who want to be famous by the way they act after a big play How they preen for the camera, and do some weird dance that goes, look at me world I am famous. But a great athlete does not dance but quietly gets up and hands the trophy to a kid in the audience.
Tony Stewart won the Nation Wide race at Daytona this weekend but he was more concerned about the fans that were injured then the trophy he just won. That is a sign of greatness. Fast forward to Sunday and Jimmy Johnson's second win at Daytona in the big race and all he did was smile and talk about his sponsors and make some lame statement wish the fans that were hurt could be here so they could see my win .Really ?That is someone looking to be famous .
Greatness is achieved by being humble and loving what you are doing. Greatness comes from your enjoyment of your achievements not anyone else's.
You can be great at work or home or in your child's eyes. You can be great on the treadmill or just have a ho hum workout.
Being and doing your best in most things should be one of our goals. From the great blogs you guys write , and the awesome accomplishment you post on your page. From your 5 ks, to your long walks in the park, to your first steps after an injury , to sleeping better or having a less anxious day. To getting over your potato chip cravings to finally loving your fruits and vegetables These all prove your greatness. I looking forward to all the great accomplishments you make in the future. Be Just Great!!!!
