Winter into Spring 5% challenge
Saturday, February 23, 2013
I am excited to be getting started with the next 5% challenge. As I have discussed in previous blogs, I have had a big weight gain since the last challenge. I have been exercising and eating ok, but not at my usual level of consciousness. So, I will be using this challenge to gradually rebuild those healthy habits that may have slipped a little!
DH is joining me on this one, though he is on a different team (I'm a Starfish, he's a Cat!). We also have signed up for our local YMCA's program- Transformation Nation Triad (TNT)- and are on different teams for that also. I am not usually a competitive person, but I suppose a little friendly competition is a good thing if it motivates us to make changes!
Somehow, I missed the emails with the countdown challenges.
Summing up my challenges and goals-
Weight has gone from 134 Dec 1 to 158 on 2-21! (actually was up to 160+ for a few days)
Though I've been working out/ strength training, muscle tone has decreased
I've found that I am getting winded much easier than I did a few months ago.
Carb craving has been a challenge, and I have adjusted my shopping despite the kids protests!
Kids' schedules, exhaustion from teaching a challenging class, finishing up grad school, and other obstacles are just that- obstacles- and I will get past them!
Fitness plan- my TNT instructor has given me a workout plan to follow and I also am to add in some of my own workouts
Eating plan- goal is to eat as little processed as possible, mostly fresh veggies, lean meats, and fresh fruit (amounts in that order). More veggie servings than fruit servings, supplementing with protein powders/bars only as needed- not as a replacement for real food!
