Feeling Better!

Friday, February 22, 2013

You would think after eating more nutritious meals and snacks and exercising at least 10 minutes a day for nearly 2 weeks I'd be feeling better. But honestly it has been hard to keep my eyes open during the day. I couldn't figure it out. I take a multi-vitamin every day, have a routine bed-time and take a natural sleep aide most nights. Why do I feel so badly?

So I called my mom and aunt, all of us are nurses, and we put our heads together. I have no signs of anemia, my vital signs are great, I'm eating enough calories and my diet is very balanced. The only problem besides being too tired to do anything during the day is that I'm also sleeping more than 8 hours a day and I just don't feel like getting up in the mornings. In fact I'm hitting the snooze button more instead of less these days. So what changed?

Mr B likes to watch tv all night long, even though he now uses his laptop on his bedside table and keeps the volume very low, it still keeps me awake from time to time. I began taking 1mg of Melatonin nightly to help me fall asleep. Recently I increased this to 3mg after the loss of a family member increased my insomnia.

So 2 nights ago I stopped taking Melatonin all together and today I feel great. It did take me about 15 minutes to fall asleep last night so I may need to try something new or go back to the 1mg dose, but by George I think we got it. Don't worry folks if I start having problems again with lethergy I'll go see the doctor.

Feeling better and Louisiana!

I don't think taking 15 minutes to fall asleep is all that bad. If you get a better quality of sleep not taking the pills and feel more rested during the day, I think I would stay off of any sleep aids. Hang in there! HUGS!

It's a horrible feeling to sleep without getting any quality rest or recuperation. I'm glad you discovered the problem and were able to get some relief. emoticon
