Need some motivation/support

Friday, February 22, 2013

I weighed myself for the first time since the summer and I am 30 lbs heavier than I was then.

That's still six lbs lighter than when I started, but I feel so sad/upset with myself at the backsliding.

My birthday is in around 3 weeks and I just feel like, "hey, there went my dream of being 50 lbs lighter for when I turn another year older."

-36 lbs to -6

It's unlike me to be so negative about myself, I guess I just needed something to hold on to feeling good about. Not much of that for me lately.

Any words of advice, Sparkers?

Keeping weight off isn't easy. But you know what to do - the hard part is just making the best choice 90% of the time. You can do this - you just need to keep doing that.

I know it can be difficult when you loose a significant amount of weight and then gain some of it back. I lost 87 pounds and then gained 30something of it back. It's hard because you feel like you failed. But the reality is you didn't fail, you have had a set back but you still are smaller than you were. I think one of the best things you can do for yourself right now is to try to spend the next three weeks making the best choices that you can. Set a new goal for yourself and move forward. You can't change your past actions or thoughts but you can control your now and the choice you make right in this moment. You have everything you need inside of you to be great and to do all the things you wish to do. If you ever need help please don't hesitate to ask we are all here for you!

It is never fun to regain lost weight. I have lost 40 pounds 2 times in my life, only to gain it back. But I gained even MORE weight that I lost and ended up bigger then ever. So the fact that you didn't gain any extra is definitely a plus.

You lost 36 pounds, so it's clear that you know how to do this and do this well. So get back to what you were doing to lose that weight. Start slow and ease back into this. You aren't going to fall back into your healthy routine overnight, but one thing at a time. Start by tracking, then work on staying in range, work on water, then add in exercise when you are ready. One day at a time, one foot in front of the other. I have been doing this 11 months and I'm down 60 pounds, I promise if you take it one day at a time you will get there. emoticon emoticon
