Okay. So in my last blog I said, "Vanity has its pitfalls...." Yesterday I discovered it also has at least one positive attribute: motivation!

Participating in a sprint triathlon is one of my 2013 goals. I've been working a training program I found online, and prepping myself mentally. I also researched tri gear on-line and ordered myself some shorts and a "bikini top" (their name for it, not mine. It's really just a pretty colored jog bra.) They arrived.

Oh - my - goodness. If seeing myself in the mirror in that get-up isn't a motivator for decreasing my calorie intake and increasing my strength/definition workouts, then a motivator doesn't exist! I thought I looked like the Michelin man in my attempt to stave off the cold...; I really looked like him in my little tri outfit!

In addition to the recommended workouts in the training program, I'll be adding some toning exercises. If push comes to shove, I'll have a big t-shirt in my transition area to hastily put on after exiting the pool. Hopefully, I won't have to resort to that plan B, but will be "held within the bounds" of my shorts and top by the day of the event.

    emoticon You said you don't set goals, but doing a triathlon is quite a goal! I have no doubt that by the time the event comes around you will be looking GREAT in your outfit! Keep us posted on your progress.
