Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Money can be overwhelming. If we don’t have enough money, we tend to worry about how to pay the bills. If we have money, we may spend too much of it and put our focus too much on our things. God has a plan for our finances. We need to go to Him with what we have and ask Him to help us know what we need to do to take time out for our finances. He will help us with a plan.

1 Timothy 6:17 “Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, help us today not to worry about our finances. We know that You will give us just what we need when we need it. We know that You have a plan for us and we are to give back to You whatever we have for You to use as You see fit. Show us what we should do today in our financial situation and help us not to make another move without You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We can’t depend on money to make us happy. Only God can give us true joy.

When our finances are in a mess, God can help but we need to be sure to put Him first in all we do…including our spending.

God can help us with our finances but we have to be true to Him in all areas of our lives, including money.

We can’t love both God and money. One leads to joy and eternal life. The other leads to death and destruction.

1 Timothy 6:10 “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” (NLT)
