Zumba 10 Day Accelerated Fat Loss program - Day 1 (yesterday)

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

I started Day 1 yesterday and I'm actually off to a good start. I decided not to take food pictures cuz it seemed kinda silly and I didn't think people would really care about what I ate. My food and fitness trackers are shared though if anyone is curious.

So I woke up and said goodbye to my two older kids as they went to their grandma's to visit with their dad for a couple days and had breakfast. With this program you can eat up to 7 times a day with four mini snacks or 5 times with two decent sized snacks and their are guidelines of what counts as a snack.

My breakfast was a low fat bran muffin, 1/4 cup egg beaters, a banana, coffee and 0 fat creamer. About 2 hours after I ate was when I did the first dvd which was the Zumba Activate dvd which is a 40 min workout. I've been doing this dvd quite a bit and I really love it and love the dance trainers in it. They give off a lot of energy and are encouraging the whole way through it and every time I finish the dvd I get all sentimental and silly (tears welling up in my eyes) cuz I'm proud of myself for getting through it. These dvd's are tough for me considering my size and the non existent amount of fitness I was doing before I started zumba. This dvd makes it almost impossible to keep raising my arms above my head halfway through it due to the crazy amount of movement.. and EVERYTHING gets moved.

But enough about that.

After Zumba I showered to get rid of the sweat which I pretend is fat oozing out of my pores and I must shower immediately afterwards so it doesn't absorb back in lol. I wave good bye to it as it goes down the drain. I had lunch which was a turkey sandwich on 100% whole wheat bread with lettuce and cucumbers, and then added some carrot sticks on the side and some low cal ranch dressing and added a glass of 1% milk. The rest of my day was spent playing with my son and talking to my fiancé since he had a day off.

Supper was 1/2 cup of brown rice with low sodium soy sauce and pan seared garlic and herb haddock with another glass of 1% milk.

Snacks were 1/2 a serving of strawberry fat free greek yogurt and single serving crispy mini delights caramel drizzle.

My goal for this week is to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my meals to keep it more balanced but I think I did pretty well for my first day of trying to somewhat follow a good diet plan. My calories were under what they should be but my carbs were in range and the awesome part for me was my fat was 2 over my bottom range while my protein was 18 over my bottom range. My fat is usually like 2 from the top part of my range so I managed to cut a good chunk of fat from my diet. My protein could be higher but it's a work in progress.

Now for the embarrassing part. Measurements! I wanted to see if there was any difference after this program considering it says you can lose a dress or pant size in 10 days. So here they are:

Starting weight : 277 (stupid TOM put me up a lb - I am not happy about this)
Waist - 51
Hips - 53
Thigh - 27
Upper arm - 15
Chest - 39
Calf - 16

Oh btw from the last time I measured til these measurements which is about 3 weeks ago I lost another 7 inches from my body for a total of 16 inches! Yay me!

Today is Zumba Exhilarate which is a 60 min dvd so I will post about my Day 2 tonight (if I don't die lol).

Have a great day everybody!

Awesome! I love that feeling when you finish up a hard workout. I do hill runs, and there's one really brutal hill on my route. I've teared up when I've hit the top before, because it's such a challenge (the view is worth it, though!).

Your meals sound tasty! A good trick for getting some extra veggies in is to steam some up for dinner. You can do it stovetop or get a little electric steamer (that's what we use). Just throw a handful of assorted stuff in, set the timer, and you have perfect tendercrisp veggies to go with your meal. I love them plain, but you can drizzle a little lemon juice for some extra flavour.

If you haven't checked her out already, you should visit my friend ADARKARA (http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage.
asp?id=ADARKARA). She started at a similar start weight and just crossed over into Onederland.
