Springing to Action Challenge - Week One

Hello fellow challenge participants and my Bahama Mama's teammates!
I'm very excited to be starting a new challenge! The Falling for Fitness challenge was lots of fun and I got to know some great new Spark Friends. I'm looking forward to spending the next four months with all of you.

Here's a little bit about me. I'm Hilary. I joined Sparkpeople in 2009 and lost about twenty pounds within the first six months. I've struggled with various fertility issues over the past seven years but in 2010 I got pregnant and had a wonderful little boy.
My weight went up and down a bit in the two years following the birth of my son, but I kept coming back to Spark and trying again and again.

In 2012 I turned 40. I re-started the Couch to 5K training program after getting off track a few times and I went for a physical in September. I had a big chat with my doctor. There is lots of Type 2 diabetes in my family so I've always been aware that I "should" lose weight but I was in denial about the potential for cardiovascular problems. My doctor opened my eyes and helped me to understand that it was time to really get serious about getting healthy. She helped me choose a weight loss program that would work for me and I buckled down and got to work. I joined the Bahama Mamas for the Falling for Fitness Challenge and in October of 2012 I ran 5K for the first time ever.

Something shifted in my subconscious and I began to believe that it really was possible for me to lose weight and get healthy. I lost 18 pounds during the FFF challenge and I would love to do the same during the Spring challenge.
I am an emotional eater and I have never been good with sticking with an exercise program. I fall off the wagon quite regularly, but I keep getting up and climbing back on. I'm going to do my best to get as much exercise as I can during this challenge!

I am a stay at home mum. I love doing lots of different things like collecting antiques, travelling, knitting, spinning yarn, cooking, gardening and reading!
My #1 non-scale goal is to show my son how to live a healthy, active lifestyle.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone a little better! Let's kick some butt this Spring!
