Great Workout and Review of the Year So Far

Yesterday I felt brave and tried that workout I've seen a few times on Spark..the treadmill one where it's
4.0 for 5 min at 5% incline
6.0 for 3 min at 2% incline
7.0 for 1 min at 2% incline
3.0 for 1 min at 10% incline
then you repeat 4 times for a 50 minute workout that's supposed to burn 500 calories.
Let me be clear I did NOT do the full workout. I did 2 sets of it and even then I had to decrease the speed on the 6.0 to 5.5 and on the 7.0 to 6.5. Still, I felt SO good for being able to do that much since I haven't really run since my car accident in early December. According to the treadmill monitor, my 20 minutes of the workout plus the warm-up and cool-down walking I did (5 min each) burned me about 300 calories. Not Bad! Then I hopped on the elliptical for 30 minutes and burned another 300 calories there. So when I went to pick up my girls at the birthday party they were attending and the host offered me cake and ice cream it was SO easy to say no. I just burned 600 calories and I'm not wasting them on THAT! There's plenty of other crap I'd rather eat if I'm gonna eat junk, but I ate no junk. I went home and ate supper with my family with no regrets!
As spring nears, I thought I'd reflect on some habits that I'm happy I've kept:
I've logged food all but maybe 1 or 2 days since January 10th.
I've exercised 5+ days a week every week since January 10th.
I've stayed active on Sparkpeople reading articles, encouraging other members and blogging most days of the week.
I'm going to focus on these positive habits and continue to work on them because I know they're helping me stay on track and will help me reach my long-term goals. I'm not going to add more and overwhelm myself. These are my keys to success with my health and I'm so thankful God has given me the strength to sustain these changes. He is so good and faithful to be my strength when I am weak, which is often. Here's to all the good things the rest of the year may hold!
