I've just made it back home and am at the computer to log in the food I ate while I was away. I am catching the sun going down, it is quite a pretty sunset.

I went to spend the day with my amazing 94 year old grandma today. She lives about 40 minutes away, so I don't get out there to see her as often as she or I would like. She still lives home alone, with some help from her son and two very wonderful neighbors. My grandma brings me so much joy, always has! I am so blessed to still have her with me.

I brought her a fresh supply of homemade soups, healthy choice frozen dinners, shredded cooked chicken, and a few other odds and ends. She has a hard time cooking anymore as she has slowed down with age, and it takes a lot of time and effort. So between me and my uncle, we do as much for her as we can. Takes the pressure off of her and she only has to fix a salad to go with her meal. And we also made a nice big pot of chili, some for now, and some of it for the freezer. Thank goodness for the convenience of microwaves!

I really cherish these moments I get to spend with her. She has always been supportive to me, no matter what! And she always loves me unconditionally, no matter what. Everyone deserves to have somebody in their life who loves them like that, a sort of soul mate if you will. Not a romantic kind of soulmate, more of a kindred spirit kind of thing. I give thanks every day for that, I am very grateful for it! emoticon

I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and got to spend some quality time with those you love, and who love you back!

Oh, how amazing that you have got to have that wonderful relationship with your grandma for so long. I'm sure it means the world to her that you are able to come visit and bring her some goodies to eat. Cherish the time that you get to spend together.

Oh isn't it wonderful to have such great relationships with our grandma's? Mine have been gone for a long time and I miss them so much but I have wonderful memories of them! You are so fortunate that you are able to spend time with her, and the help that you give her with the food must be such a blessing to her. I think that we thrive when we have these kind of relationships!
