Red Light Foods!!!

Years ago at a WW meeting, I heard about "Red Light Foods" for the first time. The leader talked about how she couldn't have peanut butter in her house for a very long time, because she just couldn't stop with a spoonful or two. Instead, she would start eating it right out of the jar and before she knew it, half the jar would be gone.

There are three things that I would count as "Red Light Foods". The first would have to be pizza. Most serving sizes are listed as 1 slice. I don't know about you, but one slice never cuts it. 4 or 5 maybe, but one, never!!!

Brownies are another item that I find very hard to have around the house. I've pretty much stopped making them unless it's to take them to an event. I can easily eat a whole pan without really thinking about it, especially if they are chewy!

The last food is frosting. I love frosting, especially my homemade frosting. This is ironic, since cake decorating is one of my passions, yet I am watching my weight and trying to be healthy. I'm still trying to figure out how to handle this when I have a cake or cupcakes to decorate. As long as I don't taste any of it, I'm good. But that is really hard, because I want to make sure it's tastes right. I really should trust that after all this time, I know what I'm doing and my frosting is good every time.

I'm not going to stop having these foods, but I realize that I will be better off if they are consumed in controlled settings. Maybe someday they will no longer affect me the way they do now. Until then I will just have to be on guard.

    Nice blog! Being aware of our trigger foods and foods that are potentially problematic is a great way to just have high awareness of how we're fueling and the affect our decisions will have on our programs.

    well, I guess I am with you, my red light food would have to be caramels, any kind of candy with caramel in it, just can not stop my self, and then the candy like vines, jelly bellies, tootsie rolls, you know the chewy sweet candy, chocolate, I can just about leave completely alone, as well as cake, cookies, pies, just like that candy, and also salty foods,
