PREDIABETIC wake up call

Saturday, February 16, 2013

Data from the 2011 National Diabetes Fact Sheet (released Jan. 26, 2011)

Total prevalence of diabetes

Total: 25.8 million children and adults in the United States—8.3% of the population—have diabetes.

Diagnosed: 18.8 million people

Undiagnosed: 7.0 million people

Prediabetes: 79 million people*

New Cases: 1.9 million new cases of diabetes are diagnosed in people aged 20 years and older in 2010.

The above information is a couple years old, but it still lets me know, I am not alone.

Just been diagnosed as prediabetic. IT GOT MY ATTENTION! I have family and friends tell me nothing to worry about, most people are prediabetic and don't know it. HELLO..... THAT does not make it right for me!!! It is actually kinda sad that people are willing to accept the statistics like a normal thing....
I may lose the weight, exercise more and still end up with diabetes since my father had type 2 diabetes. However, I am NOT ready to give up and say oh well.... This truly is a much needed wake up call for me....
