First time for everything

Friday, February 15, 2013

For the first time (probably since I was in high school) I went to church on a weekday that wasn't a holy day of obligation. it's part of my commitment for lent. Hopefully, I will continue to go even when Lent is over and build up to actually attending daily mass. Of course, being new to this, I had to figure out where to go. Because the daily usually attracts a smaller crowd, it is said in a smaller chapel and not the main church. Thankfully, I saw some people I recognized and they led me to the chapel. The place was packed. I think Father Hogan was surprised to because he wondered aloud if he had enough hosts. And I have to get used to the orderly way they get up for communion. I saw the line dwindling and no one on my side got up to get communion. So I jump up to get in line. Little did I know they were just waiting their turn (I'm not used to that. In manhattan, the second the priest turns the corner of the altar, everyone is up and in line--there is no order to it all. Here , everyone went up row by row.) Oh well. I know for next week and I won't jump the gun

Sometimes it can be a little scary to do something new.

Congrats for going and I hope you keep it up!
