I laugh as I reflect on how busy life is with the kids going every which way and I know that down the road it will be slightly easier to manage when I'm home to taxi kids to their various activites instead of causing poor DH to leave work early to get everyone where they need to be on time.
Case in point, today my 2DDs' school had an early release at 1 p.m. but I work 'til 4 p.m. 1 DD is going to an after school swim party and then a slumber party with a couple friends, the other DD is going to a friend's birthday party at the friend's house. While that party is going on, the older brother of the birthday girl is coming to my house so he can hang out with my DS since they are friends. Then DS has basketball practice at 4:15 p.m. and the b-day party is over at 4 p.m., so DH has to come home from work early to pick up DD2 from the party, grab DS from home, drop off his friend and take DS to basketball and he'll get home from that about the same time I will from work. As soon as I get home, I'll quickly prepare supper so we can eat before I have an appt to meet my workout partner at 5:30 p.m. at the gym. DS gets home from bball around 6 p.m. and has to eat supper late, but he loves to eat right after practice since they work 'em pretty hard.
Crazy stuff, but it's all good. It's just another reason it makes sense for me to stay home. I want to be a part of all the craziness and help make it a little less crazy.
Ultimately, I thank God for the healthy friendships they've made and the fact that they are just enjoying their childhood.
