My 2nd Valentines Day married

Friday, February 15, 2013

And I haven't spent one with my husband yet. But it is okay, he sent me a text at like 1:45 this morning, which was very sweet. And I am very used to having to be apart from him. I also know that in a few more years, when my son is out of school and on his own, I will be back on the truck helping.

And today was an overall good day. My son's friend came over after school and was surprised at the new clothes, and just about died over the shoes. I am VERY happy that both boys' shoes fit well. My son had ordered his own in 2 sizes larger than what he currently had (which still had room) but this new brand apparently runs SMALL, because it fits almost exactly the same in a 14 as his other brand does in a 12! Thank goodness the friend's shoes didn't run small!!

And the boys dug me out of the snow. I hadn't been able to leave my house today because we had gotten almost 6 more inches of snow. So they dug the van out and dug paths so I could get to it, and tomorrow I think they are going to finish clearing the sidewalks for me. At least I hope they are! And they helped me grocery shop.

The friend is a little put out because I wouldn't let him have much of anything with sugar because he just got meds for a UTI, and I'm making him drink water. But he also realizes that I know what I am talking about, so he is listening and doing as I ask.

I made meatloaf, corn casserole, and homemade biscuits for dinner. And I fixed a batch of sausage gravy and will make more biscuits, this time buttermilk for their breakfast tomorrow. Probably with eggs and fruit. The friend hasn't had homemade biscuits and gravy since his grandma passed away, so I hope he likes the way I make it. If not, I can always freeze it til Hubs comes home.

I'm kind of enjoying having someone other than my husband LIKE my cooking. My son is used to it, because I've cooked his entire life. So to him, it's no big deal. He doesn't think my cooking is anything special, or all that good. And honestly, tonight he helped out and did a fair part of it.

He said he'll make the biscuits in the morning if they wake up before I do, too! I really like it when he's like this!!

And with luck, Hubs will get freight and get out of texas tomorrow.

A Belated Happy Valentine's Day, congrats on your second with (yet without him physically there) your hubby. My hubby & I (mostly me) are romantic, too. We didn't eat out (too crowded & expensive) but I made a Publix crab-stuffed salmon pinwheel to share, with creamed spinach and parsley potatoes, and shared a single-serving of key-lime pie. Nice! It's good to keep the romantic spark alive, even after as many years as we have been blessed with together. May you have many more either on th e road with your hubby or at home together!
