Do You Know Your Stride Length?

I just got back from a great walk in the desert and I realized that my stride has been lengthening and quickening, feeling familiar to my old gait. My husband has complained about my stride all our married life because my stride was always long and quick, similar to my Mothers. I guess you could have called us "fast walkers". Since I have gained weight and my health has started to go downhill, my gait has slowed, my paces slowed, shortened in length. I also noticed my walking was a little wobbly. Awhile back I read an article about stride and health, which I remembered today and I found a similar article today. The article describes what yor stride might reveal about your health.

It now makes a lot of sense because my stride is better the healthier I become. My Mother, a previous wonderful walker, now shuffles and walks bent over, indicative of someone with dementia. I did not realize that I would be so happy because my stride is returning to normal, but here I am, ecstatic to be on my way back to my stride. Have you noticed any difference to your stride lately?

    I think I've always had a good stride, but need to be mindful to keep it that way.
