Why Not to Use Your Purse As a Lunch Sack& Other Lessons

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Happy Valentines Day Fellow Sparkers! It has been one week since I cut out all the cr*p I was eating mindlessly including sugar and junk foods. I lost 3.8 lbs this week! Being that today was valentines day and I have 3 children it was a nightmare getting out of the house with everything we all needed today. I did remember healthy food but quickly just threw it into my purse and headed out the door. Well needless to say that juicy, juicy pear was juicy juiced into the inside of my purse. emoticon I am quite grateful that I don't spend a ton on money on my purses...but it IS my black purse and the one I use most often. Grr. Lesson: Use your Lunch Sack fool.

Now that I'm getting on track again I've been struggling with whether I weigh in only once a week or if I weigh in a couple times a week to just check in with myself. I normally get frustrated if one weeks weigh in is lower than my official weekly weigh in. This happend to me this week. However this is what I learned.

Thursday 2/7 Starting Weight: 172.8
Monday 2/11 Weight Check: 169.3 (Result of an On Task AWESOME Weekend!)
Tuesday 2/12 Weight Check: 167.7 (Results reflecting having Ran the night before!)
Wednesday 2/13 Weight Check: 168.5 (Result on task; No run)
Thursday 2/14 Weekly Weigh In: 169.0 (3.8 lbs Lost)

I've learned that depending on my exercise, hydration, sleep, cold/cold medicine the number on the scale will change. As long as I manage to keep it budging in the right direction that will make a good week. Tonight I will take my that the weeks where the scale isn't budging I have another even more reliable measurement to keep me motivated and remind me of how awesome I am doing!

Those pears. They go from rocks to perfect to juice in the blink of an eye. Sorry the black purse took a hit...Right on target too, remembering all the factors of life and framed in the big picture.

I know my weight fluctuates every day. What I like about checking only once a week is that (1) it cuts out certain cyclical fluctuations -- for example, my Sunday weight is always higher than my Friday weight so I never end up comparing one Sunday to a Friday, and (2) if I'm doing it right, I'm not likely to end up retaining enough water or being dehydrated enough to mask a full week's work. If one week I show a particularly big loss, I know that some of that is likely water but by the time a full on-plan week has passed I should still be down at least a little.

I usually do a daily weight check (that, like yours, jumps around a bit) but do an official weigh in the first thing every monday morning.

It sounds like you are doing great, keep it up!

No matter how you look at it, 3.8 pounds is great. Maybe once a week is better, but I check it every day.
