Happy Valentines Day

Thursday, February 14, 2013

For those who don't know, I am single, child free, and I live alone. unless you count my dog. Yet I do not feel lonely. Truthfully when I was married I had more lonely times than I've had in the past four years. Four years ago on this day I went on a singles cruise with Singles Pleasing the Lord. I went by myself and figured it would be safe because it was with a group of Christians. Well I was delivered and set free from the bondage of lust. The loneliness took a couple more months. I praise God that just because a holiday roles around that I don't feel gloomily and feel like no one loves me. God loves me so much that He gave His life for me. He has taken away my fears that come with being single and showed me how precious and beautiful I am. So happy Valentines Day, especially to my single friends. you are loved. Here is a valentine from me. No matter what you have done in your past God loves you. Enjoy your day and no emotional eating. It is so not worth it.

I'm four blocks away from my parents so I can always visit them. If things were that bad I would attend the singles event occurring tonight. I just praise God that I'm not one of those people that get down because it is a holiday. For people looking for encouraging information for singles check out

I liked your blog and am glad to read that you are rising above the awful pressure Valentines Day puts on people, especially when you are single. Please remember that even if you happen to be alone, it doesnt necessarily follow that you will be lonely -- as you said, you can be as lonely with someone as when you are on your own...I've been in that boat too.
One thing my friends and I used to do was make Valentines Day (and all the holidays, actually) a big get together for all of us that may not have had extended family around. We would all bring a pot luck dish and make our own friends and family get together for the holidays. We had people ranging from their 80s to as young as 2 -- singles, couples, parents, kids and even pets -- and made our own "family" of extended friends. As a single mom living far from my own family, it was very special to feel part of this great group of people and have others to spend the holidays with -- and its something I'll always remember fondly.
Maybe you could organize something like that with your friends and even friends of theirs that you don't know yet. There are alot of people out there who may not have others around for the holidays and you may end up meeting some really great people who become like family you found along the way too.

Thank you. I am single as well. I have been down a bit this afternoon. But, I just put on. I want to get out in a bit.

I am thankful that God loves me but I wish I could feel it right now.

Hope your Valentine's day is a healthy one.

No emotional eating for me either.

    Thanks, Karen emoticon

I find it a message to me that several blogs I have opened today have talked about the love of God. It's time for me to focus again, to get back to having an open heart and open mind to His love.
Thank you for this lovely blog entry!
