Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Since I was not raised Christian and only learned the rules for fasting/abstaining during Lent last year, this will be my first year intentionally participating. Therefore, my main goal for the season is to intentionally fast and abstain for meat when necessary.

My "giving up" goal is to eat healthier and smaller portions. Hopefully I will lose 4 pounds, but weight loss is not going to be the focus. Eating smarter is going to be.

My spiritual goal is it read some of the Bible every day. I found a site ( ) that gives Bible passages to read every day to read the Bible in a year. That is my ultimate goal - to make it through the whole Bible.

I am a lapsed Catholic. When I go to services I attend Eastern Orthodox (Greek) . I haven't fasted for lent in over 20 years but I think this year I will fast one one thing and also choose a good deed to complete everyday. I heard that idea somewhere and I really like it. They will be small steps so I do not set myself up for failure. emoticon

Oh, I love this. Thank you, I am going to do the Bible reading every day also. Lovely.

Yes, I have come back to the Catholic religion after a long time away. I was still a Christian, but not Catholic. So, it is back to fasting and abstaining. Thank goodness I like fish. Alot. :D

I hope you have a great Lent. I am going for my ashes at 6:30pm.

I hope you have a really great day.
