Weigh-in Wednesday

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

So, I've decided to drop the whole day count. I feel like its sort of dragging me down and making me feel worse about how I'm doing. I weighed myself today and put on 3 pounds. I've decided not to count it against me though. I have been retaining water so much so that I can really see the swelling in my legs. I am getting close to that time of the month, so I'm really not concerned. So today I'm just sitting around with my feet up trying to get the swelling down. My ankle and leg feel pretty ok thankfully.

I only weigh myself once a week and that's really just so I can keep myself in check. I'll certainly take out the salt and try some of the other suggestions.

In addition to reducing salt, try to eat foods that are good sources of potassium, e.g., bananas. Also, some foods are natural diuretics - cabbage, cranberries....

As far as the weighing - I think every day is maybe too much until you get to maintenance or consciously want to just hold for a while so you can see if you are gaining back right away. Otherwise, there will be those gains when you are doing everything right. Even though you may know why, it can be so demoralizing, which can trigger emotional eating. I was doing every day but have switched to once a week.

There is one advantage to getting older. :-)

Try eliminating as much salt from your diet as you possibly can today. Might help.
