Stop Comparing Me!

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

We all have a condition, a status, a description. We all have some degree or position on some scale of weight, health, wealth and beauty.

Every day we are compared to others. Usually not to our benefit, or it's to negate feelings. You have a cold? Mine's worse. You have this condition? Be grateful it's not this one. You lost 5 pounds? Nice, but she lost 20.

Our peers, friends and family do this to us all the time.

What's worse? We do it to ourselves!

Deny it. I dare you. I watched a movie last night where the leading role actress looked a lot like me. You know, if I lost 100 pounds. And spent hours a day in a gym.

And there I go again.

I can't stop others from doing it, but I should be able to stop ME from doing it!

I really do not care what others think of me... I work a job where I'm constantly fighting with management ... they all hate me .... I still have a job to do... they'll get over it... I can't take it personally.

I do it to myself all the time and I need to remind myself I am my own person. Instead of thinking that we're comparing ourselves to other people, maybe set a goal to one day be at the weight of a person we look up to or have a fabulous dress...good luck to you!

I hear you.... I catch myself doing it all the time. It's a hard habit to break. --KJD
