Back to the Gym!

Monday, February 11, 2013

Hi Spark Buddies!

Well today I found myself filling out the paperwork and paying 6 months for the gym. I am actually very excited! I have a tread mill at home but it's getting boring. The gym has quite a bit of stuff I can mix it up and try to figure out why I have not been able to keep my workouts in the higher zones. The subscription to the gym also included 3 visits with a trainer, so I am looking forward to getting some input as well.

So I get to report how I did my first night at the gym, because I am heading there in just a bit. I am actually glad I paid for it, because I am a bit scared to go to be honest. Now that I have paid for it, I know I have to go.

Here we go, the struggle between the mental and the physical. Losing weight is a combination of both in my opinion!

Hope everyone has a great night!

I hope the gym visit was great! I remember in one of your posts you worried about looking out of place at the gym. First, I hope you gym has people of all sizes working on their health goals. If not, remember, even if someone looks at you, do not assume that they are thinking negatively about you. I had someone looking at me once and thankfully, they came up and said "I just wanted to say that you've really inspired me - you were doing an exercise that I'm just learning."

I have been watching a person in my neighborhood walking every day - even in terrible weather. I can see walking is really difficult for her. Her persistence and consistency really inspire me. I had a chance about a month ago to tell her this. She was really appreciative and mentioned that sometimes she worries about what others think, but her health is too important to her to let that hold her back!
