For 2 days now I've been craving chocolate. What's up with that? There is no chocolate in this house, so I've been eating around it: Nutella, hot chocolate, more Nutella, more hot chocolate.

Let me tell you, it doesn't work!

Next time I'll just go and get me some good chocolate, and no, I'm not going to count out 2 Hershey's kisses, I'll eat the whole darn bag, get it out of my system and move on.

Much less damage than what I've been doing this weekend.

You won't find me anywhere near the scale tomorrow though, that's for sure.
Luckily I got two good hikes in, so the damage won't be that great.

On Saturday it was really cold, even the mountains were cold...

We found some snow on the trail below the 2000 feet level.
This, too, is SoCal :)

It had rained the night before, and as the morning progressed and the temps warmed up a bit all the ice on the trees started to melt and chunks of ice rained down on us. It was awesome!

Alright, definitely have to work on improving on my nutrition this coming week.

    I know where I would find chocolate in my house... the Chips for my cookies. I love the real, dark semi-sweet, so I'm not tempted by the milk chocolate stuff. (Lucky me.)

    I would try the two Hershey kisses because I would be disappointed and move on.

    Now, those baby carrots in the grocery store are one of my weaknesses.....

    Chocolate sure has many people in its clutches, doesn't it? I may have to try the 100 calories chocolate covered almonds snack. Maybe that will keep me away from candy bars or a tub of ice cream. emoticon for the beautiful pictures. -- Lou

    Chocolate is definitely one of my weaknesses, and it has to be the real thing. I've tried substitutions, too, but ended up eating too much of the wrong thing.

    I have found that if I try to eat something other than what I'm wanting, I end up eating more (PLUS the thing I want) than if I just go for a modest portion of my craving. Good insight. Plan what you will do when the craving strikes and you won't feel so helpless, uncontolled, frustrated or angry.

    I heard somewhere that if you crave chocolate to drink a cup of hot chocolate. I agree with you, it DOESN'T work. Eating chocolate chip by the handful? THAT works! At least for me. emoticon

    Classmate, TOM is here.. and I have the same desire only not for chocolate, but CAROB. I usually crave before TOM arrives... during TOM not as bad. So, I can relate. I hope you survived today... this is when this nation buys the most chocolate!!!! emoticon

    I love your blog! It gives me an insight into how "the other half" lives. Last night we had over 6 inches of snow at our normal elevations. That's normal, too. emoticon

    I get my exercise shoveling snow and slogging through drifts up to my hips. I'd rather be hiking! (But when the weather is nice enough to walk, the mosquitoes suck you dry or the black flies chew chunks out of you!)

    The pics are gorgeous! So jealous : ) I am the same way with chocolate. When the craving hits, I know to go get some or I will do the same thing, eat around it and consume 10 times the calories than I would have eating the dang candy. lol I used to get a king size reeses and now opt for the regular and eat it slowly and that helps me a bunch.

    I've done that eating thing too, where you eat EVERYTHING but the thing you're really craving. It never seems to work, does it!?!

    Your pictures remind me of the Smokey Mountains and the Hiles i used to do there.
