Life's Unwanted Surprises

Sunday, February 10, 2013

We lost another family member this weekend, but this was totally unexpected. Rest in peace, cousin Mike.

Mike was an avid hockey fan. He played semi-pro as a young man and then watched his son follow in his footsteps. This is an article about his passing:

The Federal Hockey League has sadly lost one of its own with the passing of Mike Goffredo, 62, the father of John Goffredo, who has played with the Aviators in Brooklyn, the New Jersey Outlaws and the Danbury Whalers.

Mike, who died on Saturday, February 9, 2013 in the early afternoon, due to complications from surgery, came to as many games as he possibly could with Roe, his wife of 31 years, in support of John. If the game was too far away, Mike and Roe would watch on the computer.

Mike was a great fan of hockey. He had a great sense of humor, a down to earth personality and always appreciated a good joke or story with his booming, thunderous laughter.

The FHL is saddened and diminished with his passing.
