Life in the fast lane

To say that my life has been smack dab in the middle of the fast lane would be an understatement. Some days I feel like I am going to meet myself coming as I am going. This, however, is not all bad – some has been quite enjoyable and I am happier than I have been in a very long time.
I am still working full-time hours at my job that is supposed to be 30 hours a week, while still putting in 10-15 hours a week at the other job. Luckily I love both my jobs, my bosses and the staff which makes working a lot more fun. Working 40 hours at the one job was supposed to be for only a month or two, and I am into month four and going on five. Now it looks as though it could end up permanent due to the addition of another educator, the assistance he will require. A few weeks ago the boss at job two asked if I would be willing to work from home because the landlord wanted to shut down the building during the winter months to save on heating costs. I answered with a big “yes.” This gives me much more flexibility in getting my work done.
My weekends have been a time to catch up on laundry, housework, and trying to fit in some fun. Two weeks ago my youngest son (age 15) and I spent a day in Duluth – visiting Lake Superior (a bit chilly by the lake), some shopping and dinner out. It was such a wonderful day. The next day we started a puzzle and worked on it in between household chores. We did neglect a few chores. LOL! This past Saturday a group of friends attended a fundraiser for another friend, who is in her second battle with cancer. It was so nice to see a large turn-out, and get the chance to catch up with people I don’t get to see very often. The next day was spent with my mom and sister. Another wonderful addition to some of my weekends is time spent with the most wonderful man. He is so loving, makes me laugh and is a joy to be with. Every day I am so grateful that he was brought into my life. Tomorrow he and my youngest son will meet for the first time, and I am sure they will get along great. Then next weekend I will introduce to him to more family and friends. Not sure when he and my older son will meet because of my son’s college classes and work schedule. I rarely see him myself.
Also this weekend, I will begin talking care of two horses while a friend and her husband go on vacation. I just hope he has made arrangements for someone to plow – we are supposed to get 6-13 inches of snow from Sunday into Monday, and they have a long driveway which goes up hill on the way out. I do have four-wheel drive but there are times it just isn’t enough.
Through all of this I am doing pretty good on my eating and trying to get in as much fitness as possible. This weekend my workout equipment will most likely be a shovel and tons of snow!
