Concentrate on how far you have come not how far you have to go!

It's easy to get down on yourself for losing 5 pounds instead of 25 pounds. Thinking too much about how far we have to go on this journey can be discouraging. If we think of the progress we have made... No matter how little then we can feel success. Feeling success helps us to push forward. We have done well no matter how many pounds we have lost and we can continue by feeling good about what we have done. Since 2006, I have lost 40 pounds. The weight loss slowed up a bit from time to time but I could always get right back in the groove. Now, while with Spark People, I have lost another 13 pounds. I should never feel like I have not done well enough. I have done just fine. If I had scorned myself for not losing all the weight in a year, I may have given up altogether. I didn't!

    You have a great outlook and make me feel good. Your success is fantastic. I feel guilty when I read what other people have endured to loose. I only needed to loose about 30 lbs and so far I am at 18, but it's taking forever. I,m not even sure what a healthy weight would be, because I have dieted most of my adult years. My weight has always been an issue for me but I feel that with SP I will soon find my ideal weight and for the first time in my life be okay with it.

    I am just happy to be at my current 126 but I will continue this journey until I feel like I have reached my healthy weight. I enjoy sharing the journey with great people like you!!!

    THANK YOU! I needed this today! You are absolutely right. We need to focus on the accomplishments, the positive steps we've made - to do the opposite just brings us and keeps spinning in that negative, unproductive cycle of unhealthy choices and thoughts. I've hit a bit of a plateau and frustration is getting the better of me some days. Today is one of those days. I've been fighting those negative thoughts and feelings of self-pity and WILL overcome them. It does no good. I am MUCH better off today than I was a year yay me!
