Broke the Barrier!

Friday, February 08, 2013

I'm officially under 210 (by 0.2 lbs, but it still counts). So I'm updating my little picture graph, moving that arrow a little more to the left:

I've also been logging more than 10,000 steps for 11 days straight so far! Next week will mark 1 year of tracking my steps as part of my "Walk to Disney" challenge. I'm about 45 days behind schedule, which means I have to average 9,220 steps a day from now until May to meet my goal. If I keep on this 10K a day streak, I'll be golden. Check out this neat graph of my average steps per week since beginning this challenge:

The one thing I've been really bad about is rewarding myself. I set out lots of mini rewards, and I'm tracking when I earn them, but never really cashing in. Part of that is just our financial situation - I feel guilty spending family money on myself, even if I have "earned" it.

Hope everyone out there stays safe and warm in this storm. Have a great day!

Awe you are so inspiring great job. We have some awesome thrift stores & consignment shops where I live. You can always find something small you can get to reward your self. . I love to go in & browse. Here are some of the things I have found over time, & to tell you I liked it better than going to the mall, it is for me when I go to the thrift /consignment shops I feel the hunt is on to find a small treasure I actually come home feeling happier than if I went to the mall, because I found something that barely cost me anything . Here are some of my finds over time. I am an avid reader, I found a special book I wanted regular price $24.99 I bought it for twenty five cents.( the highest I ever paid for a book was fifty cents. (sell at the next yard sale for same price when I am finished reading it) I bought a toaster oven like brand knew still had the instruction book for $1.00 Brand knew set of 6 pairs of Haines socks for $2.00 not out of package . I wear a lot of trouser socks Last week I bought two pair for fifty cents a pair tags still on from store. We sell them at my store for $4.99 a pair. One year I bought an antique glass set of Christmas balls still in the original box for $2.00 it was under a pile of other things what a treasure that was I left that store clutching them to my chest afraid some one was going to swoop by & take them from me. i display them at Christmas In a beautiful cut glass bowl with a small battery operated candle in the middle the light bounces off the Christmas balls. I display them on my oak table with the bowl setting on a crochet doily with real evergreen boughs around the bowl with a few pine cones & some red berries, looks so pretty & when people come in they woo & awe on how pretty it looks. I smile knowing the day I found that treasure, nothing has to be expensive to give your self a treat a twenty five cent item, makes me want to sing like a robin on a spring day. On rainy days we have an antique shop about 5 miles away that I took my Mom to we spent several hours there we tried on hats from the years thirty's to the fifties' looked in the long standing mirror & laughed at our self's. together we both remember a lot of things from way back when, plus Mom showed me things they had used growing up ( she is 83 ) we left that day with no purchases, but our hearts were warm ,with thoughts of by gone days, we laughed on the way home how silly we looked in the hats we tried on.We left with smiles & laughter that is more precious than an item .We gave our selves a gift to one another spending time together with memories.
