something old, something new, something borrowed...

My mother asked me to attend a wedding with her tomorrow and I agreed, not willingly, but as a favor to her. I am not fond of large gatherings of people for any occasion or event, but I can suck it up and go when I must. But, as a telling commentary on my social life, I rummaged through my closets and realized that I own two dresses - a summer dress and a winter dress. All (three pairs) of my high heels are still packed from when I moved 2 years ago and I can't find the box that they are in. I am borrowing a pair, rather than buy another pair that I won't wear for years. I have no hosiery or tights and I don't want to go bare legged, exposing my pasty, bruised legs (constantly bumping into wheelchairs and stretchers moving patients around at work), so I bought a pair of black hosiery...

Something old - the dress
Something new- the hose
Something borrowed - the shoes
Something blue - me...having to get all trussed up for an event I am none too
excited to go to

Nawww, it will be alright. Just not my cup of tea.

I am not worried about the food being a temptation. As a vegetarian, most of the time I am relegated to eating side dishes at these types of events. Desserts might be the only temptation, but I have been doing quite well with this. Anyways, I have to get back to readying myself for this brew ha ha. Yes, I have to do it tonight, because the wedding is tomorrow. I get home at about 530 pm, when traffic is not bad, but tomorrow there is supposed to be freezing rain, 2-4 inches of snow and sleet. My mother wants to pick me up at Doesn't give me a whole lot of time to primp and preen. blah

I can relate to a whole lot of this! I don't dress up very often, I don't really care for big events where there are big crowds, and I'm not sure I have a pair of tights or stockings to throw onright now. I'm also a big advocate of serving salads and fresh fruits and veggies so people who want to eat clean or can't handle high calorie choices can have a choice. Oh well!
