BOOTCAMP: No longer a scary word to me!

When I first joined SparkPeople, I wouldn't even look at the 28-Day Bootcamp program. The word "Bootcamp" had me envisioning strenuous, hour-long workouts, using 25 pound weights, and running up and down stairs or gym bleachers. Very, very scary.

In January, a SparkFriend invited me to join January Jumpstart. It was so much fun! (Thank you, HIKERBECKY!!!) It wasn't all that hard: follow a short Coach Nicole video each day, and on 5 days each week, complete 30 minutes of cardio *OF YOUR CHOICE*! Yeah, cardio OF MY CHOICE! Nobody was telling me to run up and down gym bleachers! Finished that January Jumpstart and felt so incredibly enthused! It actually was FUN!

Well, what next? SparkPeople search "challenges" yielded up a number of choices. Hmmm, let me look at 28-Day Bootcamp Workout Challenge. Oh, yah! Look at that: follow a short Coach Nicole video each day (not the same ones as in the January Jumpstart challenge) and commit to 5 days a week of 30 minutes of cardio of my choice. YAY!

"Bootcamp" doesn't mean what I thought it meant! It is called "bootcamp" because it is a daily commitment. Now, I'm nearly finished with week 2 of the 28-Day Bootcamp Challenge and loving it! This is FUN! It holds me accountable! I do not have to think about what my workout should be and what is a good balance of targeting core, arms, and legs. Coach Nicole figured it all out for me. Thank you, Coach Nicole!!!

I've learned that SparkPeople is dedicated to creating programs that the average beginner to fitness can accomplish, yet still offer a challenge to those who are further along.

If you are like I was - and scared of the word "BOOTCAMP," don't be! Join the 28-Day Bootcamp Workout Challenge and move a few steps closer to accomplishing your goals.

    Congrats on completing the January Jumpstart and having fun with the challenges! I hadn't really looked at the challenge section before, and now I think I'll try one.

    Glad to hear that you're loving bootcamp! That reminds me that I should attend one of the bootcamp classes my gym offers...once my knees are back in working order :)
