Day 3: Goals

Wednesday, February 06, 2013

So I'm doing ok, but feeling a little caught up in other things.
I ate really healthy so far today but I'm feeling hungry again. Going to make a snack before we go to Ikea and then make something else small when we get back. I ran a lot of errands today and haven't worked out yet.
Thank god for the treadmill desk. Ken is using it now but I'm planning to use it tonight to do some reading for my classes. I really want to get 10000 steps on the days I don't make it to the gym.
As one sparker said of my previous blog, small steps. I know I'm not going to succeed every week at my goals, but I like to have them. I can always change them because they are mine.
The main one for this week is no sugary foods and no beer, along with healthier eating choices. That has been going great. I've eaten a salad every day and I'm logging my food using UP, which is a bracelet that logs your steps and sleep and an app where you can log your food and share it with your network. I like it ok, and mainly only use it because my friends and BF do.
I am obviously not making it to the gym every day, but that's ok. I'm being active and I'm conscious of my activity.
I'm going out to eat tomorrow with some friends, but I'm not worried about it.
I AM going to the gym tomorrow, to bank some extra calories beforehand. It will be the first time I've eaten out this week, which is great considering how the last two months have been.
I'm also planning to eat out at least twice on my trip: once with my mom at this Tapas place I like in St. Petersburg and once when I'm in Orlando.
I've packed my running shoes and I'm hoping to jog a few days I'm down there.

So things are good. I'm hoping to reach out for some buddies when I get back from Florida. Thanks for reading!!

I love the treadmill desk. It's best for reading and watching TV at faster speeds but Ken uses it for hours at a super low speed so he can type and use the mouse.

The one we have is very heavy (and expensive) but the one we initially had was cheaper, more lightweight and easier to place. Unfortunately that also meant it crapped out after a few months.

I highly recommend it to anyone who spends a lot of time at the computer reading emails or textbooks (like me). Or if you really want to watch many episodes of TV without the guilt!

Glad to hear that things are going well!

I've been intrigued by the treadmill desk idea, but we have nowhere to put one. Do you find it easy to walk & work?

Hope an awesome trip! I love that you've already planned eating out into your schedule. It's something we all know that we do when we go away, but sometimes we still don't really think about it or realize that it's totally okay to do so.
