Well I've been a member of SP for a while now but I've just recently decided to really use it to my advantage. Two things have happened in the past month that have super motivated me.

1. The Governor or Kansas (Rock Chalk!) initiated the Governor's Weight Loss Challenge for state employees. There are few perks to working for the state so I grab up the ones I can whenever I can. I'm on a team of 5 (Team "Drop It Like It's Hot") and we all have some pretty hefty weight loss goals. Weigh ins are due every 2 weeks and so far I've lost 5 pounds. Not as much as I was hoping, but baby steps I suppose. And most importantly, at stake is a $5,000 prize to the top losers' team. I'm NOT a superficial person but I'd kiss a horse's butt for $1,000 so I can give this my all.
2. My very good friends, Joe and Mallory, recently became engaged (yay!!) and have set the date for October 5, 2013. There will be certain people at this wedding that I only see 2-3 a year and I want their eyes to pop out of their friggin heads when the see me later this year. (ok, yes.. it's an ex and his wife. Is it bad to use that as motiviation? I don't think so..)

So there's what's at stake for me. Not to mention that I was once an active, fit and somewhat skinny individual. I'd do anything to have the old me back. I was confident, extroverted, photogenic and social. Pretty much the complete opposite of what I am now. It's time for a change.. so here I am to make it happen!

Any reason is a good reason to really try to better oneself. And if you can turn heads and make their eyes pop out...all the better ;)
And that competition sounds like a really great motivator too!
    Kick some butt :)
