3 weeks and 2 days in....

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

Well I've been doing SP for 3 weeks and I love the motivation that people give me and the motivation I see in other SP members.

I just had someone comment on my Facebook status, "it looks like your walking pace has picked up. Good job!" Let me tell you....that has increased my motivation tenfold!

Now I am dealing with acid reflux again emoticon and I don't know why. When I first started SP 3 weeks (and 2 days) ago it tapered off. I even forgot to take my Prilosec and had no problems. Now, here I go again in dealing with this. *Sigh* This too shall pass! emoticon

I had the worst heartburn ever when I was pregnant. I discovered disolving a spoonful of baking soda in a small glass of warm water, then chugging it down was the best help ever. My husband also has bad heartburn/reflux when he eats certain things and that is a great cure for him. The baking soda neutralizes the acid in your stomach.

I also had acid reflux a few years back. Thankfully I no longer have to take medicine for it, although it does bother me on occasionally. For me, it means I need to crack down on my eating habits, especially high fat foods. When I was taking meds, I did see a dietician. A few suggestions offered to me...lay off the gum chewing, don't drink from a straw, don't eat too close to bed time, lay low on acidic foods. Hope this helps!
Glad to hear of your positive comment on fb!! emoticon emoticon

Thank you Momma. Yeah, I don't know what's causing it.....I have been using more red wine vinegar for my salads (I'm really picky how I dress it and don't like the fat-free Ranch dressings or anything like that). I asked my S.O. to pick me up some, hopefully he'll remember!

I've had acid reflux problems off and on--it's one thing that has made sticking to a healthy diet easier because it seems that foods which are high in sugar (think doughnuts) make me more prone to attacks. I've cut out all but the rare carbonated drink, too, which also seems to help... and because my husband wanted to switch to the Simply Smooth version of coffee made by Folger's, which has less acid, or something like that, it's helped, too. I figured out the sugar-trigger when I went on my gestational diabetes diet around this time last year and suddenly, even though I was pregnant enough to pop, my acid stopped bothering me. then I started thinking back to the fact that I worked at a doughnut shop when all of it started...

I hope you get to forget your Prilosec again soon!
