Greater than 350,000 SparkPoints 397,510

I did not make my steps tonight but we had a lot to do today.

Monday, February 04, 2013

My big deal of the day was spinning a bonus wheel and landing on 1,000 goodie points.
I had decided to enter my food before we took off for a number of appointments. I came down to the basement and entered the food I was going to prepare for the day. DH was still sleeping so I had time for that and then I spun the 7 that a Spark friend in England always called it a lucky 7 but that was what followed it. 1,000 GOODIE POINTS.

Another sparker just recently asked the question does anyone win 500 goodies, I never thought about it. I never watch it spin because it is tricky it stops and starts again on some days so I spin it and then hide it up at the top of the page.
I look at it when it is firmly in place. I am thinking is there ever a 5,000 goodie on the wheel. Maybe the other Sparker had said that instead. Since I hide the wheel I rarely get to see the offerings. Just my silly way to do it.

When I first joined SPARK the wheel had pop-up goodie numbers but at some point it changed.
I really like the goodie points and being able to send Goodies as private little packages to friends, makes it special when it says someone has sent you a goodie and likewise it is a special gift to send them to others.

I never send goodies to myself I get more joy using the points to send to others.

I have had very little exercise today I have done 30 minutes on the gazelle but it also does not track on the pedometer I wonder if anyone else uses that old gazelle machine jt has been great to keep DH hip loose for many years. It does still track mileage but that cannot convert to steps in my mind.

I keep hoping for snow so I can stay home and exercise all day. It has been cold and windy so no-one wanted to walk the trail and today everywhere I went in the car DH came with me.

There was a surprise for us today. The surgeon who did DH’s HIP called and asked him how he was doing. He was still experiencing wake up pains that were hard to handle sometimes in his muscles. He was out of pain meds and he was given a prescription yesterday. The surgeon and he talked for a while and I reminded him to ask about PT so he did. He was told once again the Surgeon preferred not to have outside PT for this lateral hip replacement so we had actually done everything right.

When DH told the surgeon he was walking without a cane or a limp he was told to take it easier, rest up a bit and don't overdo it.
This was our busy day for appointments and shopping and DH opted to come along with me. It was sunny but cold so with the shopping he sat and listened to music in the van. At the pharmacy where he has his C-PAP supplies there was a long wait and DH paced around looking on the shelves and I sat down. There are many chairs but he wanted to walk.
We actually returned the walker, that was his idea , he said he did not need it so take it back and we did.
A bit less clutter in the living room.
The dining table has his computer and printer so he can still do the accounting and he is getting ready to do the dreaded taxes.

Few steps today but much accomplished I only had 5521 steps today. I did do 30 minutes with Coach Nicole ST with resistance bands. I was disappointed but more important things had to be done because if it snows DH will be house bound again.

Time for bed !!!

I've never gotten a 1000 point goodie. Good job!!

It sounds like your hubby is almost back to normal. I am having my taxes done this year, I think.

you did get a lot accomplished! We kept my Dad's walker, have it hanging on a hook in the garage.. We have no insurance coverage for any medical supplies, so I have pack-ratted crutches, my wrist brace, a leg brace, the walker, a handful of grab-its(Our Civitan club sold them years ago),, Mom has her walker with wheels and the wheel chair..
one thing we do not have is a cane.. I am fascinated by those new ones that stand alone, advertised on tv..

How nice that you know how to do your taxes with all of the new changes this year! Not me, never could do them..

Pat, that was so nice of the surgeon to call instead of having him go there. Hoping your DH is backing off a bit will help reduce the pain. I loved the gazelle we had. Had to get rid of it because of moving at the time. Looking forward to the exercise equipment we are getting from our GS. The is if I ever get over there to pay him for it. Take care. HUGS, Terry
PS: I do feel special when I get a spark goodie! :)

Busy day for you, wasn't it?! Sorry we're not having any "stay-at-home-snow" --- I wouldn't mind some myself!

Pat, you and DH are doing such a great job. Yes, you had a lot to do but don't feel bad about not getting in all the exercise you wanted. I know you will get it in and if it snows......look out exercise!!!

We keep getting this little "dustings" but nothing more so far. I am just tired of the cold weather that we are all having but it's supposed to be back up in the 40's in the next few days. It will feel like a heat wave!!!

    hugs....Mary Anne

Congratulations on your 100 Goodie Spin. The highest one that I have ever spin is a 100 Goodie. Glad to hear that the Surgeon called and talk with DH. It shows He cares about his Patients. The prescription for pill medication will help him too. But DH needs to so way down and take it easy and go real slow with what he does. You got a lot of things done too. So don't worry if you cannot do all of your excercises. You was on the go all day long. The Both of You are doing Great. Get some rest and sleep when you can. God Blessings to Everyone. Have a Super Nice Day. Take Care. Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like a very productive day, even without 10.000 steps. emoticon

Congrats on the goodie points! Have fun with those.
    Stay warm, Pat and Fred.

Congratulations on the 1,000 goodie points. I am happy that you won them.

I know the both of you must of been tired yesterday when you finally made it back home. It is good that Fred decided to go because if it does snow, at least he had gotten out of the house for a while. That was really nice of the doctor to call him and find out how he was doing. It was good that the doctor told him to slow down a little bit.

Hope you both have a wonderful day.

    Love Dot

Sounds like things are perking along well! Despite the pedometer reading, you had a busy day. Sometimes I look @ the pedometer like the scale . . . it doesn't tell the whole tale!

Congrate on your 1,000 goodie points. I think it may have happened once or twice for me. Not recently though.

It sounds like a good day to me! Goodie points and progress for DH and some things done! I like those days.

That was a great goodie spin. I've never gotten that one, guess it's something I can keep looking forward to! While you might not have gotten all your planned exercise in, you were still up and moving and kept busy all day long, so that is still a good thing. Success with any health and exercise program must include how we balance our busy lives with the requirements of our eating and movement plans, so while you might not have accomplished all of your exercise, you still attempted to work in's all good. emoticon

What will you bake, to take your neighbours? I got some groceries today and included some ripe bananas. They need a few more days to be ready to make Kono Bread. (over ripe is the best)

It is really a 9x13 pan and is moist and has a rich banana flavour. I think I'll make a Wacky cake too. This is a rich, moist chocolate cake. Inexpensive to make, no eggs or milk in it. Our homes will fragrant with baking.

This is a really cold night again and I have pluged in the car. DH has blood work in the morning.

Keep warm and dry. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds like you had a very busy day. It's good
that Fred is doing well with his walking, and not
needing the walker. It's nice to know the surgeon
cared enough to call and find out how Fred is
doing. Congratulations on winning the Goodie
Points. I think I scored 50 a few times and it is
nice when you get them. emoticon

I have received 1000 and 500 points many times on the bonus wheel and a few times on the regular wheel. I have a lot of spark points stocked up.

That's good that Fred's surgeon called him and he got a new prescription. Soon he will be running marathons. LoL
