New Eating Plan

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in November and have been working on control using medication and diet but have not been successful in bringing my numbers to the proper range. I have been researching various ideas and have decided that February was the month I would eliminate gluten, sugar and artificial sweeteners from my eating plan. I have also eliminated processed meats and reduced my dairy intake. Diabetes is not the only health issue I am working on but hope that these changes will push me in the right direction to a healthy me.

Unfortunately I started the new plan and taking vitamins on February 1 and have been sick with a cold, chills and fever ever since. Hopefully this is just my body saying "What are you doing?".

    Thanks for commenting on my post. It sounds like you are making some big changes to you eating plan too. Congrats! I am your body will thank you after it stops thinking you are punishing it! : ) I started taking daily vitamins and calcium and omega 3 and being really consistent with that - I think it is making me more clear headed. Who can't use a bit of that??

    Good luck on your new eating plan. It is difficult to do a totally gluten free diet as it is hiding everywhere. I also have diabetes but the celiac disease is by far the hardest to deal with and to control for me. Gluten is even in some of the spices. Reading labels is a must!!!
    You are in my thoughts and prayers that these changes will puch you in the right direction to the healthiest you can be. Sometimes our bodies aren't happy with the changes we are making...but they do adapt. lol!!!
