Guarding the exercise time

It is Sunday today. A lovely day weather-wise. I was going to exercise this afternoon, but we had company come to enjoy lunch with us. We sat around the table after the dishes were done, dried and put away, and enjoyed a time of visiting, laughter and just catching up with each others lives. When they left it was getting a bit late in the afternoon. I had planned to go ahead and exercise today, I don't usually exercise on Sunday as it is my day of rest, but as the afternoon waned, the motivation to exercise slipped away. That's not really a problem since I did get in exercise most every day this past week. I think that we all need at least one day of rest. God prescribed it first, and now science concurs with that.

It points out another fact that shows up in my life ... exercise procrastination usually means it won't get done. If I leave exercise until the afternoon, I most probably won't work out that day.

On these dark winter days when the sun doesn't come up very early, I don't have to get up early and get moving. It is our down time here on the farm. We usually work with the sun. Sun up - out working. Sun down - time to head into the house for supper and the evening. I have to guard my exercise time during these short winter days. Hubby and I enjoy a cup of java, then breakfast, and then as soon as breakfast dishes are done, the tennies get put on along with exercise clothes and I get walking. It's a lovely time of year ... slow ... enjoyable. I don't want to hurry it away, and I do guard my daily exercise time.
