I have been trying to keep myself on a healthy lifestyle, but I know I haven't been doing all I should. I have been contemplating joining a gym, but I want to be sure that if I do I will take advantage of the membership and not just get lazy about it. I have been seeing a chiropractor, and many of the chiropractors here in Winnipeg are part of a healthy program called Maximized Living. I went to a seminar today, and learned a lot of information. They offered a 30-day challenge to lose 20 pounds, and I signed up for it. The biggest thing for me is that I have to give up all forms of sugar, salt and grains for that 30 days. That means no bread, no cereal, etc. It scared me a little, but I saw a lot of things that I can eat. We are not allowed root vegetables at this time as well. No potatoes, no rice, no carrots. I am determined to give it a try, though and see how I make out. After you have been on this program and you lose some weight, you can slowly add some of the fruits and vegetables and grains back to your diet, but I was told that I may not want to. They offer a lot of help. We were given some recipes and a plan to follow for the 30 days with recipes for each day. One of the doctors is going to take those of us who want to go to Superstore to show us how to read labels and what to shop for. I was told that I cannot use vegetable oil or canola oil, only olive oil and coconut oil. One lady is going to buy some coconut oil for me from Costco when she goes, and I will pay her back. It is hard to find, and I don't have a Costco membership. I was told that the people in our chiropractic office will help us with recipes and encouragement along the way. At the end of the 30 days we are going to get together and have prizes, etc. I think the person who loses the most weight gets a prize, and they may make other draws as well. I am also going to start taking advantage of the small gym we have here in my apartment block. I haven't been down there for a while. I will let you know how things go. Wish me luck.
