Not bad...

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Yesterday was one of those days where I ended up just about a half beat off of my usual rhythm of life. That is to say, when I got up from my desk last night, I pulled my keycard that is normally clipped to my jean pocket, off and tossed it on my desk, and walked out the door wearing my work reading glasses.

Ordinarily, I leave my work reading glasses on my desk and take my keycard home with me so I can get into the garage the next morning! Bill and I looked all over the house for that card this morning to no avail. I got lucky and pulled in behind another lady who usually gets to the office at the same time I do, so I slipped into the lot after her and managed to meet her at the elevator as well. She works on my same floor, so she badged me in to the floor as well.

Geez. O. Pete!

On the plus side, we had dinner with the family to celebrate Ms. Kyla turning 19. We ate at Newport Seafood Grill and as predicted, I had the Seafood Cobb Salad. It was very yummy with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing, and quite filling. Apparently we eat slow, because Bill and I were the last ones to finish our meals. Ah well. I had to estimate the calorie count for the salad since NSG doesn't provide nutrition information. Even if it was way more caloric than the estimate, I imagine I was still ok and well within my range.

They brought an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins' for dessert, and I had a slice. The slice was maybe 1/4 inch thick. I removed the cake portion, and allowed myself to enjoy the ice cream and frosting. It had caramel. MmmmMMMMmmmmMMMM!

I figure it was a nice way to send off the month of January because I'm going Sugar/Sweetener Free in February baby!

Afterward, we went home and Bill showed Kyla the Karmann Ghia he's restoring for her. He's a few weeks out from having it done so she can officially have it. When he's done, her car will look very much like this!

It's way too cute and she's in love with it already. We're excited at the prospect of having our garage back after X number of years LOL

They stayed late (for us) so I simply trundled off to bed, avoiding any snacking of any kind.

Since I wasn't very active, I didn't mind being below my range. I'll probably end up slightly under my range again for Thursday, but will again be lightly active.

For being off-kilter yesterday, I do believe I did not bad. I wish I could tell you ~WHY~ right now, my game is working for me and I'm winning at it for the most part. I have no explanation for it, other than it's the right time for me and I'm taking advantage of it. I hope this lasts for a long long while.

Thanks much to everyone who stops by and comments on these blogs o'mine. I don't always swing by your pages to say 'thank you' specifically, but I do read everything and appreciate what you have to say, and do try and visit your blogs when they're up.

Love that car! Do you and Bill want to adopt ME so I can have one? No? Ah, it's just as well...I probably wouldn't fit in it comfortably at this height and weight. Still love you tho! emoticon

Your word day must have been mind-numbing to flip you to leave your badge and wear your glasses. I'm glad I'm not alone in things like this.

The birthday cake sounds super-yummy! And a great last sweet before sweet-free Feb.

Very cool about the Ghia! I've always had a special place in my heart for them. Kyla is a lucky girl! :)

It's great to see you on your game! Good luck with Feb without sweets!

I know what you mean about being out of sorts....I do that with my glasses more often than I would like to admit and then I have to remember to bring the work one's back! I'm so proud of you on the ice cream cake....holy moses...that was some thoughtful eating!!! I'm trying to peg why today I'm being successful and within my ranges and why I can't seem to manage this on other days. Let's keep searching for the answer and hopefully one of us will find it!!! We are going to be back to running before we know it!!!

Man, hate those days where random nonsense just seems to happen like that!

Glad you enjoyed your special meal out!

That's when you know you're on the right track--when you have an 'off' kind of day and yet you still are able to keep some measure of control. WOO HOO for you--and more power to you on going sugar/sweetener free for February, I'm not that strong, LOL!

I'm SO GLAD "your game" is working for you! You've found the sweet spot. That seafood salad sounds wonderful...I gotta get me some seafood. :) My husband has allergies so it's never on the menu here.
