Starting Week 2 - strong!

Thursday, January 31, 2013

First of all - can I just say that salsa night last night was AWESOME? Music is the greatest blessing of my life; I'm a classically, professionally-trained musician, and I have never taken that for granted once in my life. When I dance, I see it as an extension of my musicianship - it's just another way I get to engage with the music and immerse myself in it. I love dance almost as much as I love the creation of music.

Anyway - I did salsa, bachata and merengue last night, and I was whisked and twirled around the room all. night. long... by people of varying abilities... but mostly, everyone was quite good. I am more or less a ballroom beginner, still, but I am a good follower and, with a strong leader who gives good cues, I can hold my own and really do some hot stuff. This one guy, Marco, was a very strong leader... and I've made fast friends with this other fellow, Lowell, who is a sweet kid and is very encouraging.

Feeling it this morning, of course - I am no spring chicken! - but I did manage to get up early, anyway, and start Week 2, Day 1 of P90X: good ol' Chest & Back. Crushed it. :)

It's amazing to feel the difference in both my mood and my physicality in just a week back on my routine. I know I say that a lot, but I am in awe of the beautiful creation that is the human body. We are biologically marvelous, in the strictest definition of the adjective.

OK - must get on to other things - just checking in! Hope everyone's having a stellar day - make the best choices you can today!

The human is a magnificent piece of machinery. I, too, am so amazed at how it bounces back even after mistreating it. It sounds like you were a dancing fool, way to burn up those calories while having fun!
