Hanging with the homeless, and other random updates

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Yes, as I type this blog I'm hanging with the homeless! I'm working my 2nd of three overnight shifts this week. Not much goes on overnight, but someone has to be here. I'm working with two men from my church. Has to be at least one man & one woman for each overnight shift. The guys are reading now, and I'm working to get the church contribution statements out. That...and sparking!

I had my 2nd interview today for a job I recently applied for. It's with my current agency (Social Services), but in our home office as a policy consultant. I'm currently the operations manager in my district, where I supervise a team of 6. This new position would be in the same pay band (hopefully at an increase), but I would have to supervise NO ONE! Hopefully I'll get it. Should know something within 2-3 weeks.

Marathon training is coming along. This weekend I'm due to take another whack at 20 miles. They are calling for the possibility of snow Friday - as I sit here listening to torrential downpours and a potential T-storm tonight. It was warm today! Hope the snow doesn't happen. Can't imagine 20 miles in the snow. Can hardly imagine 20 all!

January has been a busy, busy month. Trying to get my taxes together ASAP, as I need to file the FAFSA for Colin as soon as possible. Somehow everything in my life seems to be a rush, or at least in a critical state now. Once this marathon is done, I think I need a vacation-LOL!

Most impressive all the way around. Try to pace yourself, embrace the day, and find ways to relieve any stress. Stay strong. You can do this!

God bless you and your service. I pray that you will succeed with your 20 miles. A marathon is one of my goals. Hard to imagine now, but I will get there. emoticon
