Tomorrow, tomorrow... the sun will {maybe} come out tomorrow...

Monday, January 28, 2013

Today has been a rainy day, both literally and metaphorically. The weather was just gross. It was warm, so I won't complain TOO much, but it was definitely not a day that encouraged doing anything productive.

I went to the doctor today and got good and semi-good news. I told him that my foot seemed to be improving some, especially with the tape on, and he said that was a very good sign that we would be able to cure it. And that is DEFINITELY what I wanted to hear. He had the medical assistant retape it. After watching her do it this time, there's no way I could have enough force at the angle I would be doing it to be able to tape it on my own. She was really putting her back into it! It's nice and taped up again now, and feels great. He my feet molded for inserts for my shoes, and said it would take about 4 weeks for them to arrive. But when I was checking out at the desk, the lady told me she hadn't been able to find out from my insurance company what they would/would not pay {pre-deductible.} The inserts are $498, and my deductible is $500... and that amounts to... not gonna happen. There's no way we can come up with $500 for orthotics. I did order a new pair of shoes, though. Hopefully that will help, too.

I did nothing successfully today, other than the doctor's appointment. I didn't eat one single healthy thing. I sort of ate a moderately healthy breakfast, but then I ate crap, crap and more crap. I couldn't even be troubled to drink my water.

But, I don't care. Tomorrow is going to be SO much better. I bought some produce today. Some zucchini, yellow squash and some bell pepper. I'm gonna try the great advice I have been given and try grilling them on the George.

It looks like the rain is going to hold off until tomorrow afternoon, so I'm gonna go for a walk around here. I'm just gonna take a short 20 or so minute walk and see how my foot feels. If it's okay, then The Buddy and I can get back to our regular walks later this week. I'm positively giddy at the prospect!

I guess that pretty much sums up my day. We're about to watch a David Lynch movie so I can be brain-screwed. We're watching Mullholland Drive. I'm told I might as well go into it with the assumption I will not understand what's going on. So... here we go!

Hope everyone has had a great Monday!

I'm glad you got good news from the doctor. That is a crazy price for orthopedic inserts. Ugh, I hate how much everything costs in health care when it comes to preventative medication or products. If people could afford going to the doctor for preventative medicine and could afford the prescriptions and products to help prevent problems, we'd all be healthier and we'd spend so much less overall on hospitals and doctor bills. Like any other industry though, they don't understand the importance of being proactive instead of reactive. I really hope the new shoes will help with the PF.

I love bell peppers. I think the grilling will really bring out their sweetness. Let us know how the grilling adventure goes!

So happy for your good report from the Dr. I don't like cooked veggies that crunch either. Cook them, then check and see if they feel done. If not, cook a couple minutes longer, check again, etc. I'm happy- we got a toaster today LOL. We had been toasting in the toaster oven. It worked but took a while. The veggies you got today sound really good. Hope you tomorrow is awesome!

See if you are eligible for Care Credit. It's a medical financing option. I used it this summer when I had $2600 worth of dental work done. I got the option where if you pay it all off in a year there's 0% interest. It's basically a line of credit you can only use for medical needs. =)

You could try buying a pair of orthotics for about $75. That is what I did from an dedicated shoe store that checked out my foot and then had me try different styles. Much cheaper than the pair from the doctors office!
Hope things brighten up for you!
Tomorrow is another day so hit the reset button!
