Climbing Wall!

So this is awesome, I just finished writing out my Unit 2 calendar (Home, family, and culture) and there is one reading that we have called "Our Wounded Hearts". It's about a girl whose father dies of heart disease, so we will be discussing health that day. Hurray! So I wanted to talk about health issues and being healthy and how that will make it easier to come to classes if you're well-fueled and well-rested and stuff like that.

So I booked 2 hours at the climbing wall on campus!! It's going to be awesome! I'm a little nervous because I don't think I have very good upper-arm strength, but I will try my best. I wanted to talk about how 'working out' doesn't have to be monotonous, and can include fun and spontaneous things.

Ah, I'm so excited! I love my calendar for this unit! Go me!

    Climbing is a lot of fun! Make sure you warm up a bit first! (wrist circles, elbow circles, and then warm muscles). Don't be afraid to take breaks between climbs (if you go straight at it, you'll find you last 20 minutes, tops, and then are super-sore the next day!). If you can't climb the whole two hours, don't worry! You'll get there!

    Oh wow! That sounds awesome! My husband and I tried that once. Lemme tell you, your arms are going to die- but you're just building some serious, serious muscle. My arms were on fire after my husband and I did it. But yay for new ways of working out! emoticon

    That sounds fantastic! I've never tried a climbing wall before. Like you, I've always had very little upper body strength, even though I had solid muscle there. I think a lot of the problem was that I weighed a heck of a lot back in the day. :) Anyways, so I never tried a climbing wall because I was always afraid I wouldn't be able to do it. This makes me want to see if I can find one in my area and try it out! Surely a gym around here has one I can play on!

    That sounds awesome! I tried a climbing wall YEARS ago, but would love to give it another shot. I'm trying to build up more upper body strength first though. haha
