Phantom Happiness

As the end of the month approaches, I thought I'd review my goals. (I think the "post your goals where you can see" them is really effective-thanks SP!)

Physical-Keep running and plan run the half marathon in Missoula in July. Keep working on my core. Snow shoe and ski all winter. Eat mostly plant based diet, drink lots of water. Spend time outside each day and most of one day each week.
-Deb had a great idea to run a half marathon each week, so I aimed for that and it worked.
-snow shoed just about every weekend, being outside was wonderful.
-added several new Vegan meals to my rotation

Mental-expand into new areas of work so that I'm learning and integrating new information. Read one book a month.
- Had to do this one for work, so I've been learning a lot about Swallowing Therapy.

Emotional-Spend time with my family and friends. Stay away from the emotional vampires.
-Biggest challenges of the month came in this area, but my hedgehog reminder helped me turn it around.

Spiritual-Read Pema Chodron, taking the leap. Attend local Episcopal and Methodist services. Daily sitting meditation, weekly meditation at Sangha. Attend Buddhist retreat in October.
-Made it to church twice, did my sitting meditation more often than not and started the book.

Finally- I really have been working to be OPEN. I started reading the Dalai Llama's book, Open Heart.
Then I was talking to someone with only leg and he had an episode of phantom pain. I said to him, "too bad we can't have phantom happiness' a moment when we're just overcome by one of the happiest moments of our lives" then we both agreed that meeting our children for the first time would be one of these moments.

I think this is also possible when we smile at each other.
