Getting my exercise

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Between hand shoveling my 120x30 foot driveway and lugging wood to the basement for the wood stove I have definitely gotten my exercise today!

My dishwasher has been replaced! Kitchen Aid stands behind their warranty. I had a 25 year one on the tub and when they could not replace it they gave me FREE a new dishwasher! NO installation fees or costs what=so-ever! And this one has a life time warranty with a stainless steel tub. I hope to never out live this one.

Still eating what I want and no weight gained. I am hoping the exercise helps with the losing.

I have been reading quite a bit and watching movies from the library for entertainment. I repaired a dish that broke and some de-cluttering this week as well. And dental appointment which went well.

I attended an intro course for becoming a Master Gardener but after I heard all the requirements and what I could not do, the volunteering began to sound more like a job with chains and no pay.

I have been enjoying my freedom since I retired. I find plenty to do and am rarely bored. When I retired the first time at 51 after 3 months I became bored, re-opened my business and then took a part time job. When the business became a chore-I retired from that. When the part time job was feeling more like prison--I retired again. I guess I needed to ease into retirement after working 70 hour weeks.

Getting used to idleness and having freedom was quite an adjustment. Like driving a race car then stuck in traffic with no where to go. My engine was still running but I could not run. Now I drive a go cart with only gravity or my own power to move it. Suddenly I see the view I missed driving the race car. Now I am pedaling, enjoying the view with some occasional gravity to prod me on. It is rather nice. emoticon

What a great blog - what a woman! I wish you all the success you deserve - you are going through lifestyle changes that take time to adjust to. Please write a new blog as to what you are up to now and how you feel. I just can't get motivated with exercise - I have tried for years, but it just doesn't work for me. Best wishes to you...

You still are one busy woman. My husband bought a new computer for me (35th wedding anniversary present), it is an HP pavilion lap top. We bought it on Saturday, and Sunday, my husband drove to Frederick to pick it up. They were out of stock at the Best Buy where we bought it. My son came yesterday evening around 5 PM and I told him I wanted to leave my desktop set up where it is and he was not happy about that. He downloaded some things and said he would come back again later that evening. He came by again and transferred things from the desktop on my old computer onto the new lap top and I sat in the recliner last night and fooled with it.

There are still things I need to ask my son about, like how to turn down the volume. I tried and it would mute, but not decrease the volume. I am using my old computer to do some e-mails. There is no e-mail loaded to the new computer.

I hope to be retiring soon, maybe this year. I will have to adjust to not working. I don't know how I will feel about that.
