Putting Progress Into Perspective

Friday, January 25, 2013

I have to admit it - the past few weeks have both been empowering and frustrating for me. Having the will power to get up at 5:15 AM multiple mornings to work out, working out twice a day, only breaking calories twice in 3 weeks - it is such a wonderful feeling.

The results of losing 4.2 lbs in 3 weeks on the other hand - can be hard to swallow. What makes it even more difficult is seeing some of the people in my biggest loser competition at work just melting a way. In the same 3 weeks - one of the guys has lost 15.4 lbs!

This morning I really started thinking about it. Last spring I lost 18 lbs over 3-1/2 months. It was the best I've looked and felt in quite a while. I then proceeded to gain 12 of the lbs back. And then it hit me.

It took me 8-1/2 months to gain back 12 lbs. That's fast. But the thing that's really inspired me? In only 3 weeks I have lost a 1/3 of that weight already! I'm on the slow track in my mind - but really the fast track to lose my goal 18 and be below my final weigh in last year at our final weigh in this yeare!

I can do this. Slow and steady can win this race!
