Exodus 20: 8-11
"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. "Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the LORD your God ; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day ; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy

Hello guys and gals.
Yesterday was a good day, I got in 3 games of racquetball and 5 minutes of running. I love that racquetball a lot more than running but I don't mind running when I am listening to some Christian Rock and talking to God.

I had a great time at church with the Royal Rangers. Our Royal Rangers class grew by 3 more yesterday. That brings our total boys to 9 for the night. It was awesome to see that. We have been working on our Pinewood Derby Cars and getting them ready for a race next month. We even got some of them primed and ready for paint.

Well as I told you guys yesterday, I was going to see the dentist to have a root canal. Well looks like I was wrong. the price they quoted me over the phone and the price they quoted in the office was different by over 500 dollars. There was no way I could afford that. So I had them pull both teeth that was bad. I have a little headache right now but I am feeling good other than that.

Due to me seeing the dentist, I was not able to eat a snack today, but I had a good healthy lunch at the Olive Garden. I have found that I like the food there especially now that I am watching my calories. But don't tell my wife that, lol. I also found a meal that I can eat at lunch that has about 600 calories just as the entree. I have to add about 300 more for the salad, lol. That took care of my snack.

Commandment #4, tells us to keep the Sabbath holy. I know that in this day and time we have very busy lives and we do not drop everything on the Sabbath to worship God and remember his creation. I don't know why we have come to ignore this Commandment. I do not know for sure what day is the original Sabbath day. I read on wiki that the Hebrews recognized the Sabbath from sunset on Friday until they saw three stars on Saturday night. I am however going to talk to my pastor more on the subject. If you guys have any input please feel free to let me know.

Lord thank You for guiding me and my words today. Lord I ask that you would help me understand what you want me to do about you commandment of the sabbath. Lord thank You for showing me Your love and kindness. Help me be strong and courageous and continue to fight for the good of You. In Jesus' name Amen.

And I just had another thought. Just hoping that all the pastors in this group take THEIR Sabbath rest. My Dad, a retired pastor, used to take Mondays.

Agreed. During my career as an RN, there were a couple of jobs I had where I worked 12-hour days (or nights) on Saturday and Sunday as my regular schedule. Once I used Wednesday as my sabbath, because I was attending a church with services at least during Advent and Lent on that day. Another time, my church had no services during the week. Can't remember which day I chose then, but I was pretty consistent with going to a Mass that day even though I wasn't Catholic. The important thing is rest and worship on a consistent weekly basis.

We are friends with a couple who are 100% Jewish, and 100% Christian. Their view of the Sabbath is this: Jews observe Saturday, because of it being the last day of the week, and the day that God rested from creation. Christians observe Sunday because that was when Christ was risen and the empty tomb was discovered. His family observes the Sabbath at home on Saturday, not shopping, nor working, not running errands, nor running around in general. They read, worship, talk, and sometimes play family type board games. No T.V. no computer, or video games. Their family attends church on Sunday, often has lunch with friends or other types of fellowship in the afternoon. They believe that the important part of the Sabbath is spending a day of rest from our labors and distractions, focusing on God and spending time in praise and worship. They do not believe God is nit-picky about which day we choose to do it. It is not the day we choose, it is what we focus on during that day.
