Breaking the Fast, Date Night, and Oral Surgery

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

So, we ended our fast just short of 3 weeks, by first bringing in a few raw fruits and vegetables, and now more recently cooked veggies and beans.

Overall, it's going well. We stuck to our plan while staying with family all problem, no questions asked. Easy. We EVEN went on a date and stuck to it. There is a wonderful restaurant (one of our favorites) called Uptown Kitchen that serves all whole food, mostly very healthy, beautiful house made meals. I even took a few pics to share.

This is the hummus plate we shared as an appetizer. The hummus is house made, and was delicious. We substitued extra veggies instead of pita bread...beautifu and delicious. What a treat it was to have a quiet dinner out. At this stage in our lives, dinner is never quiet!

This is the gorgeous chopped salad we ordered with house made vingerette dressing. Wonderful...and too big! I couldn't even finish it. My stomach as shrunk from the fast, so it doesn't take as much to fill me up.

After dinner we went to see a movie (Lincoln). It was so nice - we haven't gone to the movies in over a year! We were so full from dinner the smell of movie popcorn didn't even temp us. We're focused. This is our lives we're talking about.

I have gained two pounds back as of this morning. I expected it, and yet it is a little disappointing. I have two sick kiddos right now, so the workout plan that I wrote out for this week hasn't worked out exactly. However, yesterday I put on a cd and did some yoga at home and danced with the kids. Today I had oral surgery, so it was already planned as my "off" day. Since my kids are sick I can't go to the gym during the day tomorrow like I prefer, so that we can have our family dinner together. But occasionally, I do go in the evening...and tomorrow that's the plan. We my husband gets home from work, I'm going to spinning for the first time in a long time and possibly to the steam room as a reward. :)

4-5 years ago I was a regular at spinning. Depending on the instructor, I love it! It's such a great workout physically and mentally. My knees are feeling better lately, so I'm gong to give it a shot!

Well, the baby woke up. Gotta run.

Those little moments are important that you spend with your hubby. Kids do throw a monkey wrench in plans, but what can you do.Just get to the gym when you can.I hope you make a speedy recovery from your surgery.. I too enjoy spinning. I sometimes use a spin video from YOUTUBE. I have a spin bike in my workout room.I have yet to go to a class at the gym.
    Well keep at it.

The food does look good! I have never tried hummus but they make it look yummy! I am glad you enjoyed an evening out, I know how hard that can be with small children in the house!

I hope the kiddos are feeling better and your mouth is okay after surgery (ouch!) so you can get back to your plan! Enjoy the spin class and the steam room, I haven't tried that yet either, how is it? emoticon emoticon

    The food looks quite appetizing!
You are making wise choices and treating your body well.
Don't be too disappointed: the total weight loss with a liquid fast is not permanent...Be patient & kind to yourself emotionally. You will find an equilibrium soon where your body will level out a balance between "just fasted" and "eating now". Hang in there. The balances are still leveling out.

You are still doing great! I can't believe how controlled you are and disciplined. I am so proud of you and happy for you! I totally understand about the sick kiddos. I've been having that issue, too, but I think they are finally both better. Emily still didn't want to go to school this morning, but I made her anyway! :-)
