Decade Goal Day 2

So I took my "stairs" break 6 times yesterday. This means: get up from desk, walk to central stairwell, go up 2 floors & come back down and go back to my desk. It takes only a couple of minutes, and I can combine it with a trip to the bathroom if necessary (which was surprisingly often yesterday since I also got in 3 liters of water instead of 2). It's about 290 steps each time, which added over 1700 to my daily step total yesterday.
Since I got this awesome FitBit for Christmas, and I know I need to move more, I'm using it to track my steps. I figure if I can get up to that 10,000 steps a day goal, I'll be moving enough. Or at least it certainly qualifies as "more" than I have been! If I park my car at one end of the parking lot, take the stairs up 3 flights to the 4th floor, and get water twice during a work day, I get in less than 2000 steps a day. I'm REALLY sedentary at the office. Which is not surprising. So yesterday I parked my car a little farther away, and got in the 6 mini "stairs" breaks and (Ta-Da!) doubled my steps for the day.
I will continue to park in the new slightly farther spot and take step breaks. I decided I want a nice even 300 steps instead of 288 or whatever for my "stairs breaks" so I added a half a flight. That's about the max I can do before I start getting out of breath and I don't want to be huffing and puffing when I get back to my desk. I'm not counting this as cardio, I'm just counting it as movement.
Also, today I got into work almost on time, and don't have anywhere to be after work, so I can (and will) take a walking break at lunch. It's a mile around the block my building sits on. I can walk that in 20 minutes and not be too sweaty or out of breath when I get back to my desk so that's the current plan. That'll add another 2000 steps or so, which is great.
For food, I ate really well yesterday, even got in my green veggies, but I did cave in and have 2 cookies. It was "celebrate the January birthdays" night after rehearsal at chorus, and I'd made chocolate chip with pecans and really wanted to taste one. They were really good. So good, I had two. Fortunately for me, the chorus members ate ALL the rest of them and there were only five (without nuts) to take home, which I gave to my hubby and won't be touching. Today's food goal: eat like yesterday minus the cookies. :)
