I'm back!!

It has been a long hard year. My mom past away January 14th. The last couple of months have been focused on taking care of her and helping out my dad as much as possible. I feel that it was an honor to take care of her and to be there for her until the end. Looking back on my mom's life has shown me what a strong lady she was. She fought lupus for 34 years along with many other diseases. She lasted longer than anyone would ever guess she would. She would not complain no matter what pain she was in or how bad she felt. I take the lessons that she taught me and I embrace them for myself.
Now I feel that a new chapter in my life has started and now is the time to apply those lessons. My time to focus on me and to make the changes in my life that I always wanted to make but never went through with. I am going to start out small- drinking water and adding some exercise , but to have success I need the small steps then add more as I am able.
Come join me and cheer me on!!!

It's so hard to say goodbye to a parent. I lost my dad a few years ago and still struggle with the loss. He taught me so much in the last month as I tended to his every need. I am thankful for the experience despite how difficult a journey it was. My thoughts are with you...

As you move forward, you have goals in place; that is excellent. Stay positive and don't lose sight of your goals, whether its a certain number of cups of water or the commitment to walk around the block each day. Each small goal achieved is a positive step forward in your long term goals and maintaining a positive outlook!

We're all on here together to cheer one another on!

I'm here. We can do this together. Please accept the feelings that reach from my heart to yours. I lost my mom 18 years ago, and I always say that I have finally integrated her death into my life, but I miss her like crazy. You sound like a very strong person. Your mother would be proud of the choices you're making. I think you're right: Small steps lead to bigger strides and you are doing it right.
I've only been on SP for a week and a day so I'm a newbie. It's a great place and I'm able to stay on track because of all the resources and wonderful people.
