Things are starting to look a bit better

Monday, January 21, 2013

So, Mom has an appointment on the 31st to go see a doctor about what is going on. It will be two hours long, possibly 3 hours if a hearing test is done as well, but hey, we're moving forward. We'll have to go across the beltway, but I've done one errand across it, so I think I can do it again. Definitely going to be taking a book along with me. Possibly some knitting for the appointment.

Also, found out that Dad tried out the exercise bike for ten minutes today. He's been talking about losing weight for about a year, after he noticed that I was losing weight, and hey! Hopefully this is the first step in the right direction. He used to be pretty fit, but since his hip operation and getting out of the military, he sort of let it go by the wayside. So, hopefully this will be the start of a healthy trend!

My mom and I are still trying to figure out a way that she can start exercising again. With the vertigo, it makes it difficult to do the things that she used to do. She is tempted to try the exercise bike, and I told her that if we start at small increments while I'm spotting her, we can try. She seemed to be open to this idea. So, hopefully we can do that soon. I know she misses exercising a lot.

I'm doing all right with this all. I think that getting out of state and being up in the mountains for a week did me some good. There is something so soothing about the mountains that just instantly calms me. Always felt more at ease while living there during college. One day, I shall move there. But that will happen after everything has settled here at home.

So wonderful you have a go to place, like the mountains and that you may begin to get some answers to things that are bothering you....
