Not drowning but waving

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Where did the last couple of months go? Youngest son's birthday, C word time, new year, eldest son's 18th birthday. Not to mention local campaigns and stuff. 3 seconds ago it was the middle of November, now it's the middle of January. And that's without stepping in the Tardis.

OK quick update. I actually managed to continue losing weight up until the middle of December. Hoped to maintain over the festive season. C word eve weigh in - spot on. New years eve weigh in - bingo, still not an ounce gained. Go me. Jan 7th weigh in - oops, 1lb gained. Jan 14th weigh in, another 1lb gained. Damn, bugger, and any other sweary type words that come to mind. Eldest son's 18th birthday was Friday. I did a surprise 'tea party' for him. Lots of lush cakes and such like. No - I didn't have any. But oh, the fancy sandwiches, the posh crisps and dips, the smoked salmon and cream cheese on french bread, not to mention the damn twigglets - it was all too tempting.

I guess next Monday's weigh in isn't going to be all that good either. Never mind. I can set my bench mark from it. Back in the middle of December, I reached my end of year goal. By the end of Jan, I'd like to be below that - even if only by an ounce or two.

Onwards and upwards. Er well, downwards actually - hopefully.

Bright blessings.

Nice job staying perfect all the way through New Years! That takes some serious will power! It doesn't sound like you've gained much since then (what, 2 pounds?) so I am sure you'll be back where you want to be in no time. Glad you are still with us sparking periodically and congrats on successfully raising your firstborn all the way into adulthood! Sounds like a great party you threw him. emoticon

Please tell me where that line is from.. I remember the line "and not waving / but drowning" from a poem I read in high school, but can't remember the title or the poet.

Congrats on maintaining through the holidays, even if you did gain a bit after that is quite remarkable and an achievement!

Unfortunately, food in this society is more than nutrition and feeding the body it is a large component of socialization, loving gatherings and sometimes pure pleasure like your little tea sandwiches and such. Sounds like you had a great year and celebrated and soon you will pull the reigns in and get back to your goals.
